MCF is run by a group of global volunteers, who manage not only the day-to-day operations but also the long-term direction and values of the organisation.
Helen Boyle, Director and Founder
After originally coming to China in 2008 to visit her daughter, Helen realized that China was not really a place she could ‘just visit’. The intoxicating mix of experiences made her want to learn more about the country, so she applied for a year long sabbatical from her college and moved to China with her husband. Helen realized that she had a lot to offer, having over 20 years experience in education. She saw that she could help schools and children who had limited resources and opportunities, so she created a platform to support and provide opportunities for disadvantaged children, and this is how MCF was founded. The Foundation provided primarily extracurricular activities, health, and eye checkups and other activities such as educational trips. Her vision for MCF was twofold: not only were these children benefiting, but also people of all ages and walks of life who have come together to be part of this vision to “make a difference” also benefited by the experience, insight and self-satisfaction received from their efforts and involvement.

SUPPORT & ADMINISTRATION
Elisabetha Huber, Associate Executive Director
Elisabetha was born and raised in Germany and spent most of her adult life in Thailand before moving to Beijing in July 2019. Elisabetha received her bachelor’s degree in Southeast Asian Studies and Political Science from Hamburg University in Germany. She went on to study at Leipzig University (Germany) and Roskilde University (Denmark), where she received a Master’s degree in Global Studies.
She has been working in various positions in the non-profit sector as well as the private sector and is excited to use her skills to support MCF. In her free time, she is passionate about food and travel.

Annie, QD Board
Annie currently serves as the Chairwoman of the MCF QD Board. Prior to this, she was a Session Coordinator at an MCF school, where she organized Saturday cultural exchanges for Grade 3-5 students. She has actively served at education-focused organizations for more than 15 years. Annie is a working professional in the private equity industry as an investor relations professional with eight years of working experience. Annie received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin in the US.

Marwa Curran, CSR & Businesses Development
Marwa Curran was raised in London, England, and has recently moved to Beijing with her husband for a year. Marwa studied at the University of Westminster in London and graduated with an Honours degree in Sociology and Psychology. Marwa’s professional career entails over 5 years’ experience in client relations and business development roles. She most recently worked at a global asset manager in London as a client manager in the responsible investment field. In her personal time, Marwa enjoys long distance cycling and most recently completed a Women’s 100km ride in support of encouraging more women to get into cycling!

PROGRAMS
Diana Chau, International Connect Program
Diana is the Manager for the Connect Program at MCF and is the main contact between our organization and our high school partners. She was born and raised in Canada but has strong ties with her Vietnamese and Chinese roots. She earned her Bachelor of Arts (Honors) degree from Queen’s University majoring in French Studies and minoring in Linguistics. She moved to Beijing in 2014 and has been working in international higher education. Her job has allowed her to travel to almost every province in China and other Asian countries including Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore. Her favorite travel destination is still Taiwan though, and outside of work and MCF, she enjoys an intense game of badminton.

Michelle Relich, Curriculum, Training and Mentoring
Michelle is the current lead of the curriculum, training, and mentoring program at MCF. She is involved with training and mentoring high school students in the Homework club, as well as creating on-line and in person lesson plans for English learners. Michelle is a licensed teacher from the United States and has over 20 years of experience teaching students from Kindergarten thru grade 6. Michelle is ESOL (English for Students of Other Languages) endorsed in both California and Florida. She has extensive experience with developing learning plans for students at all learning levels and culturally diverse populations. Michelle is currently enrolled at Arizona State University to obtain her Autism Spectrum Disorder certification. She is motivated by the belief that all children can be successful learners.
Jane L, Online Training
Jane joined the MCF in the spring of 2014, participating in the MCF “Buddy Program” with her 9 year-old daughter to teach English, read stories and sing songs in English at Migrant schools; her daughter also performed on the piano and violin at MCF’s “Carols for A Cause.” With over 20 years of experience as a manager and consultant for foreign companies in China, Jane serves an advisor for developing business in China and internationally.
Jane and her daughter are deeply inspired by Helen and continue to be involved in activities of MCF and other NGOs. Currently Jane is acting as the program coordinator for MCF’s online program, including Homework Club, Book Club and Weekend Extra-Curriculum Activities.

Prof. David G. Evans, CSci CChem FRSC
After several visits to Chinese university chemistry departments in the early 1990s, David was convinced of China’s potential for development in this area and he moved to Beijing University of Chemical Technology in 1996, where he is currently a member of the State Key Laboratory of Chemical Resource Engineering. He has been awarded both the ‘Friendship Prize’ by the State Council of the PRC in 2001 and an ‘International Scientific and Technological Cooperation Award of the PRC’ in 2005. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and it is in cooperation with the RSC that David gives his time, as not only a Director of MCF but a volunteer too, by running MCF’s Fun With Science
Mr. Tony Boyle
Tony Boyle has spent the last 45 years in the offshore gas and oil exploration business culminating in his position of Offshore Installation Manager. Tony traveled constantly due to work but also for pleasure. Tony is now retired and pursuing activities relating to cultural and academic interests.
Dr. Jing Jin
Dr. Jing Jin serves as Executive Director, Head of Institutional Financing of Fixed Income J.P.Morgan in Asia. Before joining JPMorgan, Dr. Jin has both worked in banking and economics in both China and America as well as studying in both countries. Dr. Jin has offered her support to MCF since it’s beginning and we are proud to have her as one of our esteemed directors.
